Builders Center

Velocity runs a
Builders Center
at their facility in Sebastian, Florida. Builders can
spend a few days to a few months there. I was only able to spend two
weeks there, most of the other half dozen or so builders were
retired and stayed there until their project was complete.
The Builders Center has all the equipment you'll
need to finish your Velocity but more importantly it has four full
time people to help when you need it. Without exception all were
knowledgeable and enthusiastic and dedicated to helping the builder
do a first class job, I can't speak highly enough of them. I'd have
liked to stay longer but couldn't, two weeks was enough to learn the
basics of working with epoxy and to make some good progress with my
kit.

Here's
a photo showing perhaps a quarter of the
Builders Center, my kit is second from the left.
The kit on the left was being built as a fastbuild fuselage for a
customer. Chad, who was building it, also built my fuselage. In
chatting with him we figured that he had built about 200
fuselages in the previous five years so I felt very confident that
mine was much better than anything I could have done.

While I was at Sebastian I stayed at the Davis
House Inn on Davis Street in Sebastian. Prices were reasonable and
the rooms were clean, spacious and well equipped with a TV,
microwave, fridge, coffee maker etc. It was only 10 minutes from the
airport/ Velocity facility and nearby were a 24 hour Walmart with a
deli section and a 24 hour Dunkin Donuts - what more could anyone
want !! |
